From Chaos to Grace

Residential Animal & Nature Facilitated Addictions Program for Individuals, Couples or Families

Participants stay at the Ranch with my family for 21 days and work through detoxification; stabilization; addiction and mental health education; treatment and continuing care planning; life skills development; relationship and communication skills development while receiving individualized trauma and grief counseling, 

A trauma-informed, strengths-based approach is taken, and a range of counseling modalities are utilized including DBT,   Art Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, Equine Assisted Learning and  a number of cultural  and land-based activities.

This is not an institutional setting. There are no bed times, check-lists or disciplinary codes. The rules are simple - don't bring any illicit drugs of abuse to this sanctuary and respect yourself, our family, our helpers, elders and each other.

Individuals of any gender or sexual orientation, families, same-sex couples...everyone is welcome and respected. We are committed to maintaining small groups and the demand for this program is high (wait times averaging 4-8 weeks). The Grief Journey

(Animal & Nature Facilitated Wellness Program)

A unique 5 Day animal & nature facilitated experiential counselling program blending Francis Weller's concepts of the 5 Gates of Grief with contemporary approaches to moving through grief and loss. 

This is a small group or family session. Maximum number of participants in any one group is 8. 

When Love Hurts

(Indoor/Outdoor Program)

An individualized Family Violence program designed to strengthen personal boundaries and nurture respect for self and others.

his is a one-on-one or family program. Maximum number of participants in any one group is 8.

Private programs are land-based and held outdoors at the ranch.

Red Dog Recovery Ranch would love to have you participate in a volunteer capacity.  Therapeutic Riding Aids, Youth Group Helpers, Land Management and Animal Management volunteer positions are available. 

Please note, volunteers who will be working directly with participants must have a clear Criminal Record Check (including Vulnerable Sectors) submitted annually.  Volunteers who will be working with underage participants must also submit a clear CWIS check annually.

People who would like to volunteer but are unable to provide the required CRIM and CWIS checks are welcome to help with land and animal management.

The Parenting Bundle

(Indoor/Outdoor Program)

An Aboriginal Cultural Parenting program developed by Wabano Parenting Society. This program is designed to foster respectful, loving, healthy relationships in indigenous families and is grounded in traditional Western Cree spirituality,  customs and beliefs.

This is a one-on-one or family program. Maximum number of participants in any one group is 8.

Out of the Shadows
(Animal & Nature Facilitated Wellness Program)

An individualized strengths-based healing from trauma program designed to discover meaning and purpose in extraordinary life experiences. 

This is a one-on-one or family program. Maximum number of participants in any one group is 8.

The Outsiders

(Animal & Nature Facilitated Learning Program)

An animal and nature assisted experiential club for youth designed to develop confidence, cooperation and communication skills by participating in a wide variety of outdoor activities.

This is a group session offered one evening per week. Separate groups available  for Youth-at-Risk and Youth with Disabilities and their aids.  Maximum number of participants in any one group is 12.
